About The Position

Provide physical therapy services to individuals experiencing impairments, functional limitations, or changes in physical function and health due to injury, disease, or other causes. Focus on improving functional outcomes and overall quality of life. Provide education to other medical professionals and provide prevention and wellness services including screenings and health promotions.

Requirements

  • Physical Therapist from the Mississippi Board of Physical Therapy required by the hire date.
  • Possess knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating physical dysfunctions, as well as knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
  • Skilled in performing manual physical therapy treatment programs, with the ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and patient progress.
  • Able to instruct and motivate patients, and to safely lift and physically manipulate them when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize complex medical data to administer appropriate tests and examine patients’ physical and cognitive status.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning to develop and update a comprehensive plan of care in collaboration with the patient and family, considering the patient’s age, lifestyle, and functional goals.
  • Ensure clinical practice reflects critical thinking, effective communication, and safe patient care.
  • Utilize appropriate methods, materials, and treatment techniques to support effective learning, and monitor patient and family responses to adapt education programs as needed.
  • Reassess patient status and revise interventions and goals as appropriate, discharging patients when goals are met, or medical necessity is no longer indicated.
  • Maintain timely, legible, and efficient documentation that meets professional and departmental standards, and provide clear, accurate oral reports.
  • Utilize clinical judgment to assess and recommend appropriate assistive devices, prosthetics, or orthotics to improve functional status.
  • Provide training and supervision in therapy techniques and objectives for students and other medical staff.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the healthcare team, supervisors, and peers to optimize patient care and team productivity.
  • Consistently meet established patient care productivity standards.
