This position provides patient care assessment and treatment. The Physical Therapist ensures patient evaluations and treatments are comprehensive, functional, and according to the Standard of Practice. They provide sound professional judgment in interpreting evaluation results and establishing an acceptable treatment plan with realistic goals. The role involves maintaining accurate patient documentation, including written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge notes per policy. Accurate and timely documentation of patient/family education, charges, departmental statistics, and ICD-9 codes as appropriate is required. The Physical Therapist will meet department financial and productivity standards, understand budgeted expectations, and maintain productivity standards. They will adjust individual schedules to meet the needs of the patient and department, and participate in process management to optimize quality and efficiency of services. Identifying quality and operational opportunities, promoting professional development and education of other healthcare workers, and providing representation on committees are also key aspects of this role. Conducting in-service training programs and supervising physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students are expected. Communication in a professional and timely manner with patients, physicians, staff, and all external customers is essential. The role requires providing appropriate patient care in accordance with age/developmental guidelines and demonstrating age/developmentally specific knowledge, skills, and abilities for the patients served. Adherence to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building is also required.
