About The Position

The purpose of this job/position is to function as a member of the Rehabilitation Services patient care team by providing physical therapy services such as therapeutic exercise, gait training, patient/family education, and various other physical modalities to assist patients in improving strength, endurance, mobility, and flexibility and to decrease pain. This position primarily evaluates and treats a sports & orthopedic population. Therapists are expected to supervise therapy interns and to assist with other educational and research activities conducted by the department or the hospital. In addition to meeting the requirements expected by a staff physical therapist, we expect the resident to also: Abide by all residency program policies and procedures. Complete all assignments and required clinical, didactic, research, and community activities in a timely manner. Demonstrate advanced levels of responsibility, initiative, leadership, and performance.

Requirements

  • BS, BA, MS, or DPT in Physical Therapy
  • Current RQI American Heart Healthcare Provider BLS certification; New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation
  • Current American Heart BLS certification
  • Advanced verbal, written, and practical clinical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience in an Ambulatory Care Setting or intensive clinical affiliation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation and Treatment of Patients: Review chart, perform individualized skilled physical therapy evaluation, establish treatment goals, develop treatment plan, provide physical therapy procedures, include patient/family/caregiver training and education, adjust treatment plan, request scheduling with Exercise Specialist when appropriate, actively supervise and review patient care delegated to exercise specialists, document evaluation/treatment plan/goals/modalities/procedures in compliance with standards, develop and/or improve patient care programs for specialty area, perform pre-op visit, demonstrate safe use of therapy equipment, assess patients for discharge, enter appropriate billing, facilitate patient scheduling, complete Medicare certifications and recertifications, monitor chart for timely co-signature, ensure patient has home program, meet productivity.
  • Provides a Safe Therapeutic Environment: Ensures the safety and welfare of patients and fellow employees, utilizes proper posture and sound body mechanics and principles for safe patient handling, maintain good physical and mental health, maintains a clean/safe/orderly environment, maintains knowledge of life safety/fire/electrical safety and disaster plan, maintains a high degree of courtesy/discretion/respect, considers the needs of patients/employees/medical staff/vendors/community members in an informative/courteous/compassionate manner.
