About The Position

The Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) at Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center is a specialized inpatient rehab program located on the hospital’s fourth floor. It’s designed for patients recovering from serious conditions like stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, orthopedic trauma, neurological disorders, amputation, or other complex illnesses. Patients receive at least 15 hours of therapy per week, typically spread across five days, under the direction of a physiatrist—a doctor who specializes in rehabilitation medicine. The ARU features 11 private rooms, a modern rehab gym with advanced equipment, and dedicated spaces for dining and activities. Each room includes amenities like Wi-Fi, cable TV, private bathrooms, and guest recliners. Because it’s located within the hospital, patients can move directly from long-term acute care to rehabilitation without transferring to a different facility. 24/7 nursing support ensures patients are supported throughout their recovery journey. The ARU follows guidelines from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is recommended by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for stroke recovery. As a PRN Physical Therapist (PT) joining our team, you’re embracing a vital mission dedicated to making communities healthier. Join us on this meaningful journey where your skills, compassion, and dedication will make a remarkable difference in the lives of those we serve.
