About The Position

Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs for patients to restore/promote function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, loss of body parts or developmental condition. Maintains confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon licensure as a Physical Therapist or eligibility and evidence of application for licensure.
  • Pelvic floor physical therapists will have completed at least level 1 training through a training institution widely recognized by the profession.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach frequently.
  • Possesses physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs.
  • Must be able to see, hear and speak with or without assistive devices.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds during patient mobility occasionally and 25 pounds or less frequently utilizing proper body mechanics.
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
  • Proficiency in executive function skills, including planning, organization, focusing attention, flexible thinking/problem solving, memory, self-monitoring, and juggling of multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Under valid referral process, carries out an individualized program of physical therapy, including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and effective communication to maximize a patient’s progress toward achieving functional goals.
  • Provides direct patient care within scope of practice.
  • Seeks excellence in practice by utilizing evidence-based or best practice techniques.
  • Has knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.
  • Is kind and welcoming to all, regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, or other factors.
  • Provides counseling to patients and patients’ families/caregivers about results of testing and recommended treatment options.
  • Involves patients and families in goal setting and treatment decision making process.
  • Appropriate supervision of Physical Therapy Assistant, with regular and timely communication.
  • Appropriate use of Rehabilitation Aides.
  • Continuously monitors patients’ functional needs and progress, adjusting plan of care as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Clear, concise, and timely documentation including evaluation, plan of care, daily treatments, progress notes and discharge summaries.
  • Clear and timely documentation of other conversations with or regarding patients (e.g. telephone encounter to document any discussions with patients, providers, vendors, etc.)
  • Demonstrates integrity through compliance with insurance regulations, accountable billing procedures, judicious use of patient’s resources, and HIPAA rules.
  • Maintains good efficiency through effective use of downtime that occurs through patient no shows and/or cancellations.
  • Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, Quality Improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Supportive to ancillary staff. This includes clear communication with front office staff and compliance with department procedures for scheduling, cancellations, no-shows, and any other duties primarily associated with the front office.
  • Encourages innovation by enhancing professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, in-services, and workshops.
  • Keeps up to date on professional literature.
  • Communicates in a kind and respectful manner to maintain a positive working relationship with all health professionals, ancillary staff, patients, and caregivers/family.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency or crisis situations.
  • Serves as Clinical Instructor for Physical Therapy students at various stages of their education.
  • Allows observation by and provides mentorship to high school or undergraduate students.
  • Promotes the profession and Sky Lakes organization through participation in in-services to residents or other hospital departments, and participation community education events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
