About The Position

This is a time-limited position focused on providing early intervention services for children from birth to age 3. The role involves completing developmental evaluations, screenings, and assessments in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to determine eligibility, monitor progress, update Individualized Family Support Plans (IFSPs), and plan interventions. The Physical Therapist will provide intervention and consultations as authorized on each child’s IFSP within the natural environment, utilizing the Primary Service Provider approach. Additionally, the role includes developing a Plan of Care and obtaining authorization for services as required by third-party payers and program policy. The position also requires maintaining clinical materials, supplies, and the work area, and submitting requests for replacement or repair as needed.

Requirements

  • Degree as a physical therapist from an institution that has been approved for the training of physical therapists by the Commission on Accreditation for Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist in accordance with Section 468. Florida Statutes, and Rule Chapter 64B20, F.A.C.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be eligible for a Medicaid Provider Number.
  • Requires Level II Criminal Background Screening, and be eligible for enrollment with Children’s Medical Services.
  • Must enroll as a Medicaid Early Intervention (EI) Services provider.
  • Completion of Early Steps online orientation modules (1-3) within 90 days of application date.
  • Applications must be renewed every three (3) years and document thirty-six (36) hours of CEU/In-service training.
  • All in service hours must be related to at least one of the early intervention professional competency areas.

  • Two to five years’ experience working with children birth to age 3 with a Physical Therapy Background.

Responsibilities
