About The Position

The Physical Therapist is responsible for examining and treating children with physical impairments and/or difficulties through the use of physical modalities. The goal is to assist the caregiver and child with physical challenges to improve mobility and function to increase independent movement and other skills necessary for functioning in daily routines. This position is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services in the areas of Physical Therapy. Services are provided in the child’s natural environment settings in which children typically spend time, for example, home or childcare. Services include screenings, evaluations, intervention, and parent education.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy
  • A current Oklahoma license as a Physical Therapist issued by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision
  • One year of professional experience as a licensed Physical Therapist (for Level II)
  • Two years of professional experience as a licensed Physical Therapist (for Level III)
  • Applicants must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • If education, certification or licensure is required to meet qualifications, applicants must provide documentation at the time of application.
  • All applicants are subject to a background check and must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and ethics of professional Physical therapy; of therapeutic techniques and their application; and of the materials used in Physical therapy programs.
  • Ability to use therapeutic equipment and materials; to evaluate various skills and abilities; to establish effective working relationships with others; and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to mentor Physical Therapy interns during their field work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides early intervention services in the child and family’s natural environment (home, childcare, park etc.)
  • Makes recommendations concerning standardized treatments/intervention based on developmental indications.
  • Completes child assessments concerning developmental, educational, and social skills/abilities.
  • Participates in family interview.
  • Conducts intakes, including client interviews, and conducts assessments to make appropriate recommendations for services.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of the Individualized Family Service Plan according to state and federal guidelines.
  • Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team to monitor the effectiveness of child health and development services.
  • Develops a treatment plan to address areas of need including routine-based activities, neuro-motor and sensory-motor function/activities and child/family coaching and education sessions.
  • Participates in the assessment, design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices.
  • Evaluates child’s response to treatment/intervention and makes recommendations on changes in treatment as required.
  • Maintains confidential records of services including progress notes and evaluation reports in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • May provide limited supervision and training of interns.
  • Participates as a supervisor to Physical Therapy Interns during their fieldwork experience.
  • Being present in the office is an essential function of this job
