About The Position

Kennedy Krieger Institute is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapist I to provide evaluation and treatment services for individuals with acquired or developmental disabilities. In this role, you will evaluate patients, develop individualized plans of care, provide evidence-based physical therapy interventions, collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team members, and help patients work toward greater mobility, function, and participation. This opportunity is ideal for a Physical Therapist who is passionate about rehabilitation and interested in developing expertise in pediatrics and the treatment of individuals with developmental or acquired disabilities.

Requirements

  • Current licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Maryland.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Master's degree from an accredited physical therapy program.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Previous physical therapy and/or rehabilitation experience.
  • Experience working in pediatrics.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and re-evaluate patients using appropriate examination techniques and standardized, objective measurement tools.
  • Develop and implement individualized physical therapy plans of care based on each patient's needs and goals.
  • Provide treatment in accordance with Maryland Physical Therapy standards of practice and within your professional competencies.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, case managers, and members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on appropriate home and community programming.
  • Delegate appropriate components of the plan of care to Physical Therapist Assistants and communicate effectively regarding patient needs and progress.
  • Provide direct supervision to rehabilitation technicians, aides, trainees, and students as appropriate.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation consistent with APTA guidelines, departmental policies, and Maryland laws and regulations governing physical therapy practice.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary conferences, staff meetings, training programs, regulatory-review preparation, and performance-improvement initiatives.
  • Help maintain departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in professional development activities that support continued clinical growth.
