Physical Therapist - Home Health Orthopedic Specialist-Southeast Dallas-Fulltime
About The Position
PARS Therapy seeks an experienced, motivated Physical Therapist with a strong orthopedic background to provide specialized home health therapy to patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions. This position is ideal for a therapist who enjoys orthopedic rehabilitation and values the independence, flexibility, and one-on-one patient care available in the home health setting. The Home Health Orthopedic Specialist will focus primarily on patients who need skilled physical therapy after orthopedic surgery or injury, including total joint replacements and other orthopedic procedures. The therapist will complete comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized plans of care, provide progressive rehabilitation, and coordinate with physicians, therapy staff, home health agencies, and caregivers to support safe, efficient recovery in the home.
Requirements
- Current physical therapist license in good standing.
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel within an assigned geographic area.
Nice To Haves
- Orthopedic physical therapy experience preferred.
- Home health experience preferred but not required for candidates with a strong orthopedic background.
- Experience with postoperative joint replacement rehabilitation strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled physical therapy evaluations in the patient's home.
- Develop individualized orthopedic rehabilitation plans of care.
- Treat patients after total knee and hip replacements, joint surgeries, fractures, and other orthopedic conditions.
- Progress therapeutic exercise, gait training, balance, mobility, strengthening, ROM, and functional activities.
- Provide postoperative education including precautions, home exercise programs, mobility expectations, and fall prevention.
- Monitor surgical recovery and identify potential complications requiring physician or agency notification.
- Coordinate care with PTAs, physicians, nurses, home health agencies, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide appropriate supervision and direction to Physical Therapist Assistants when applicable.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Help provide a consistent, high-quality orthopedic rehabilitation experience from admission through discharge.
