The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides skilled physical therapy treatments and interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with the State of Maine Physical Therapy Practice Act, physician orders, and Cary Medical Center policies. The PTA assists patients across the lifespan—from pediatric through geriatric populations—to improve mobility, reduce pain, restore function, and maximize independence. Services may be provided in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing, homecare, schools, and contracted community locations as assigned. The PTA works collaboratively with Physical Therapists, physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
