About The Position

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) performs visits as ordered under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Responsible for executing the home health patients’ physical therapy Plan of Care (POC) as established by the Physical Therapist (PT) and the Physician’s orders. Delivers high quality professional physical therapy and education and performs therapy skills with a high degree of proficiency. The majority of the time will be center based but may require visits to the home.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant school approved by the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Minimum of one year of clinical Physical Therapy Assistant performance in an acute or Rehab setting
  • Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Current PTA licensure within the state of FL
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Mobile Driver - Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policy
  • Able to travel and have reliable transportation to meet visit schedule
  • Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (written and verbal)
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse people
  • Ability to manage stress
  • Ability to physically access any home (i.e., navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning) in any area Company serves
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting patients and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Two (2) years of Home Health Physical Therapy Assistant experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides physical therapy treatment and interventions to patients based on POC established by Physical Therapist (PT) and under the supervision of the PT.
  • Provides education, training, guidance, and supervision to program staff and patients/family members regarding therapy.
  • Recommends therapeutic exercises to PT.
  • Participates actively in the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) by providing clinical expertise in team planning, problem solving, and processes.
  • Fulfills all administrative requirements including, but not limited to, collaboration with other Therapists, attendance at team and staff meetings, and recording and tracking of physical therapy durable medical equipment (DME).
  • Provide treatment accordingly as approved by the Physical Therapist.
  • Records and signs treatments in patient’s medical record; records, signs, and dates clinical documentation according to Company policy and regulatory guidelines.
  • Notifies the Physical Therapist and pertinent others of changes in condition or the need for reassessment of the Plan of Care to meet patient’s needs.
  • Execute delegated physical therapy assistant tasks under supervision, supporting patient's progress.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
