About The Position

Focused Post Acute Care Partners (FPACP) is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to join their team at Focused Care at Waxahachie. FPACP is a company that values excellence and has a recognition program called ROCKStar. The Physical Therapist Assistant will work under the general supervision of a Physical Therapist to provide treatment to patients, assisting them in regaining physical mobility and function, increasing strength, and decreasing pain. The role also involves performing related clerical and service duties.

Requirements

Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree in an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program.
Current license/registration by state of hire as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Able to perform one-person transfer under routine and emergency situations.
Able to reposition a bedbound patient alone.
Able to sit, stand, bend stoop, kneel, pull, climb, reach, lift, and perform repetitive movements of the upper extremities.

Responsibilities

Assists the Physical Therapist in the development and implementation of individual patient physical therapy care plans.
Performs daily physical therapy assignments to accomplish patient therapy plans and treatment goals.
Guides patients through prescribed exercise programs, including passive, assistive, and resistive exercise routines.
Applies heat, light, water, and electrically based treatments/modalities as prescribed.
Assists patients in gait training using various assistive devices.
Performs other therapeutic activities such as massage and body mechanics instruction.
Observes patient condition during treatment and notes any significant changes, seeking assistance from the Physical Therapist when appropriate.
Records patient response to treatment and overall progress in patient charts.
Refers patients to Physical Therapist for reevaluation as necessary.
Prepares patient referrals as requested by the Physical Therapist.
Communicates regularly with the Physical Therapist regarding program design, implementation, and progress.
Participates in Physical Therapy Assistants’ meetings.
Advises professional team members of patient progress and treatment effectiveness, and may suggest revisions to the treatment plan.
Acts as a resource to staff concerning physical therapy programs.
Provides training to staff on the utilization of adaptive equipment and the implementation of treatment plans.
Cleans and maintains treatment areas, including mats, linen, and equipment.
Follows sterile procedures and guidelines, ensuring equipment is working properly and reporting needed repairs.
Assists in scheduling patients, preparing daily schedules, and maintaining the daily census of physical therapy patients.
Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to company and facility policies and procedures.
