About The Position

Island Health is seeking an experienced Physical Therapy Assistant for their Rehabilitation Services department at their hospital in Anacortes, WA. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position on the day shift. The role involves providing direct patient care under the indirect supervision of a physical therapist, serving patients from infancy through adulthood. The Physical Therapy Assistant will make judgments regarding patient re-assessment and treatment development, and will determine when a physical therapist's advice or special attention is required. Responsibilities include performing prescribed treatments for outpatients and inpatients, communicating and problem-solving with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, and documenting patient treatment records.

Requirements

Graduate of certified Physical Therapy Assistant program
Active Physical Therapy Assistant license issued by the Washington DOH
Active BLS Certification

Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and can identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
Assumes responsibilities of a Physical Therapy Assistant by providing direct patient care under the indirect supervision of a physical therapist from infancy through adults.
Works under general clinical direction of the Physical Therapist but makes judgments regarding re-assessment of patients and development of appropriate patient treatment.
Makes decisions as to when the Physical Therapists' advice or special attention is required.
Performs prescribed treatments of outpatients and inpatients as developed by a staff physical therapist.
Participates in communication and problem solving with patient/significant other, physicians, staff from other disciplines, and staff within the department.
Documents the patient's treatment record after each physical therapy treatment according to established standards.
