About The Position

Moore County Hospital District (MCHD) is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join their award-winning team. The PTA is responsible for implementing treatment plans developed by a licensed Physical Therapist (PT). This role requires adherence to the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy practice act, regulatory agencies, payer guidelines, and MCHD policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include providing optimal patient care safely and appropriately, accurate documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cooperative departmental function. The PTA may also assist with quality control, performance improvement, staff development, compliance, program development, and supporting other staff members. Assignments can be varied, including hospital-based programs (outpatient wound, inpatient acute, outpatient nursing home, extended care), outpatient clinics (adult and pediatric musculoskeletal and neurological), home health, and school-based contract services, requiring flexibility and competency development across different areas. Patient care must be age-appropriate and diagnostic-appropriate, involving collaboration with other providers and patient education. The PTA is also responsible for supervising non-skilled personnel and documenting services accurately for billing purposes, ensuring documentation is complete, timely, concise, and accurate.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
Current Physical Therapist Assistant License in Texas.

Responsibilities

Treatment implementation as documented in a written treatment plan by the licensed physical therapist.
Compliance with the practice act of Texas State Board of Physical Therapy, regulatory agencies, payer guidelines, and policies and procedures of the department.
Provision of optimal patient care in a safe and appropriate manner.
Accurate and complete documentation.
Interdisciplinary collaborative care.
Cooperative function of the department and the hospital district.
Assisting with all other aspects of department function when primary responsibilities have been completed, including participation in quality control, performance improvement processes, staff development, compliance processes, program development, and assistance to other staff members.
Providing patient care in a safe, appropriate manner based on the written treatment plan by the licensed physical therapist.
Ensuring all treatment and interaction is age appropriate, diagnostic appropriate in compliance with practice act, regulatory agencies, payer guidelines, and policies and procedures of MCHD and the department.
Collaboration with other staff and other care providers and patient education.
Provision of patient care includes appropriate supervision of non-skilled personnel who participate in the patient’s care.
Contact within and outside of the hospital system in regard to the patient’s status and care.
Accurate billing of patient services by documenting only the services received in compliance with the practice act, regulatory agencies, and payer guidelines.
Documentation is expected to be complete, timely, concise, and accurate in compliance with the policies and procedures of the MCHD and the department.
