About The Position

Responsible to assist in the practice of physical therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist. Typically, therapy will be provided in the child’s natural environment.

Requirements

  • Two (2) to Three (3) or more years pediatric experience
  • Associates Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Successful completion of the National Certification exam.
  • State of Texas Physical Therapy Assistant License.
  • A valid driver's license, a safe driving record and auto insurance required.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Proficiency in computer and Microsoft Office programs

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a positive professional attitude with supervisors, co-workers, children, and community.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all children and employee related information.
  • Exercise sound judgment and provide appropriate care in the performance of duties.
  • Assist in delivering the treatment plan after the child has been evaluated and the treatment plan has been developed by the physical therapist and approved by the IFSP/IEP team.
  • Will track the need for reassessment, report changes in status that might warrant reassessment or referral, and may administer the reassessment under the supervision of the supervising physical therapist.
  • Immediately discontinue any specific treatment procedure which appears harmful to the child and immediately notify the supervising physical therapist.
  • Not discharge the child from a treatment program without supervision from the supervising physical therapist.
  • Maintain appropriate certification.
  • Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families.
  • Adheres to the Physical Therapy Code of Ethics.
  • Serve under the general supervision of a Licensed/Registered Physical Therapist following the supervision guidelines set forth by the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners (ECPTOTE).
  • Provides and updates schedule as changes occur and ensures proper planning as per the IFSP.
  • Other duties as assigned.
