The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) implements therapeutic programs under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, which include therapeutic exercise, gait training, and other activities of physical therapy. This role involves coordinating and collaborating with the Physical Therapist and the Rehab Director to ensure the integration of the therapeutic program into the plan of care. The PTA guides and teaches patients in techniques, exercises, or precautions to improve their functional abilities, observes and records patient reactions to treatment, and participates in case conferences. They report patient complaints or unusual reactions to the Physical Therapist and Coordinator. The role requires the ability to work a minimum of eight hours per day in various positions and activities, with sight and hearing sufficient for communication and documentation.
