The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Physical Therapist with resident-related activities and direct resident care. This role involves treating residents as directed by the Physical Therapist, completing timely and accurate documentation, and maintaining a safe treatment environment. The position also involves assisting the nursing department with training Restorative Aides, communicating with the supervising physical therapist regarding resident progress, and providing in-services on training programs. Additionally, the PTA educates residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, and safety techniques, and recommends and facilitates the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment. Maintaining confidentiality of resident and company information, reporting equipment issues, and contributing to quality assurance initiatives are also key aspects of the role. The ability to relate positively with residents, families, staff, and colleagues is essential.
