About The Position

This is a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant position in Outpatient Rehabilitation. The role predominantly involves outpatient care but includes a rotation to assist with acute care coverage 1-2 times per quarter on average. The Physical Therapist Assistant carries out physical therapy programs as planned and directed by the physical therapist, which includes training patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living. The role also involves collecting clinical assessment scores, radiographic scores and assessments, and health-related quality of life information. A wide range of tests and evaluations are performed, including assessment of developmental levels, motor skills, neurological-reflex testing, equilibrium, coordination, muscle strength, muscle tone, joint range of motion, daily living skills, and perceptual motor skills. The position also screens for orthopedic and physical defects, genetic anomalies, or idiopathic conditions. Responsibilities extend to maintaining supplies and equipment, assisting with research protocol and treatment development, ensuring quality control of data, developing educational materials, and participating in staff meetings, forums, committees, and in-service training activities. Other related duties incidental to the work described are also performed.

Requirements

• Successful completion of two year college program for Physical Therapy Assistants approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• Current license in the State of applicable state to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
• CPR certification every two years.

Responsibilities

• Carries out physical therapy programs as planned and directed by the physical therapist in clinical and research applications.
• Trains patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
• Collects clinical assessment scores, radiographic scores and assessments, and health related quality of life information.
• Performs a wide range of tests and evaluations in a clinical or research setting, including evaluation of developmental levels and functions, gross and fine motor skills, neurological-reflex testing, equilibrium, coordination, protective responses, muscle strength, muscle tone, joint range of motion, daily living skills and activities, and perceptual motor skills and defects.
• Screens for orthopedic and physical defects, genetic anomalies, or idiopathic.
• Maintains supplies and equipment.
• Assists with research protocol and treatment development; ensures quality control of data.
• Develops and writes educational materials.
• Participates in staff meetings, forums, committees, and in-service training activities.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
