About The Position

Provides physical therapy treatment in accordance with the plan of care established by a licensed Physical Therapist. Collaborates with the supervising therapist to adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and response. Maintains a clean, organized work environment and supports overall department operations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an APTA-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program with an Associate degree
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of human growth and development across the lifespan
  • Ability to read, interpret, and document medical records accurately
  • Demonstrated skills in organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking
  • Ability to work effectively with healthcare teams, leadership, and patients
  • Must complete all required orientation and competency requirements
  • May work in areas where medications are stored; no direct handling of medications permitted
  • CPR/BLS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire
  • Physical Therapist Assistant licensure (or eligibility with indirect supervision, as applicable)
  • Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 clearances (with renewal)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver skilled therapeutic interventions for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients under the direction of a Physical Therapist
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate changes or recommendations to the supervising Physical Therapist in a timely manner
  • Assist Physical Therapists with patient evaluations within scope of practice
  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic documentation, including changes in patient status, cancellations, and interventions performed
  • Ensure documentation meets organizational standards and is co-signed appropriately
  • Complete charge capture and statistical reporting to accurately reflect services rendered
  • Transport patients safely and professionally as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized treatment area
  • Provide direction to therapy volunteers and support staff in accordance with state practice guidelines
  • Rotate between treatment areas or facilities as needed to support operational needs
  • Maintain expected productivity standards
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and departmental initiatives
  • Provide and seek constructive feedback to support departmental performance and patient care
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement treatment plans that reflect current clinical and scientific best practices
  • Adjust treatment approaches within scope based on patient response and medical status
  • Recognize when changes to the plan of care are needed and escalate appropriately to the Physical Therapist
