About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant works under the direction of a physical therapist to implement treatment plans and perform selected physical therapy procedures and related tasks. The role records patients’ responses to treatment and reports outcomes to the physical therapist. The assistant integrates the hospital’s mission and Guiding Principles into daily practice. The position is listed as full-time in Las Cruces, New Mexico, with part-time and per-diem options available.

Requirements

Current and valid licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Basic Life Support/CPR certification from an approved vendor.
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
Understanding of treatment costs and financial support as they relate to quality and efficiency.
Competency in providing care according to established standards.
Ability to apply age-specific standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines when caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
General computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
Leadership skills in delegating, organizing, and educating coworkers and staff.
Effective organizational and time-management skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection-control standards.

Nice To Haves

One year of direct patient-care experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of a physical therapist, may implement treatment plans with patients.
Perform components of physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected by a supervising physical therapist.
Record patients’ responses to treatment and report the outcome of each treatment to the physical therapist.
