About The Position

Under the general direction of the rehabilitation manager, provides physical therapy services to patients in the home following the plan of care established by a physical therapist. The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy services in the home, reassessing the patient’s status on each visit and ensuring quality of care. They coordinate patient care with other clinical team members, complete all required paperwork, and maintain and enhance personal knowledge while promoting professional standards in physical therapy. Additionally, they attend all required safety training programs, follow Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens, and demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all individuals to ensure a professional environment. They also promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assistant program
  • Current Physical Therapist Assistant license from the Territory of Guam
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Handles multiples priorities
  • Manages anger / fear / hostility
  • Works in close proximity to others and / or in a distracting environment
  • Works with others effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant preferred

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a physical therapist, provides physical therapy services in the home, reassessing the patient’s status on each visit and ensuring quality of care as evidenced in the clinical record.
  • Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication as evidenced in the clinical record.
  • Completes all required paperwork following home and community services division policies and procedures to ensure that documentation reflects care provided and the outcomes achieved as evidenced in the clinical record
  • Maintains and enhances personal knowledge as well as promoting professional standards in physical therapy
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job‑related hazards.
  • Responsibly follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
