As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you’ll work under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients improve mobility, restore function, relieve pain, and regain independence — all while making a meaningful impact every day. Deliver skilled physical therapy and collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to improve patient outcomes. Requirements

  • Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant Program (required)
  • Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing in the State of Michigan
  • BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Current Michigan driver’s license, daily availability of a personal vehicle for business use, and proof of insurance required for Bronson at Home
  • Basic word processing and typing skills to operate a PC/mobile device
  • Must work as a team member and be able to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and all members of the care delivery team
  • Social sensitivity and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Regularly performs work requiring a high level of interpersonal skills to deal with delicate patient care matters

Responsibilities

  • Follow the plan of care and goals established by the Physical Therapist
  • Family and community education
  • Provision of direct patient care, including performing physical, electrical, mechanical, and heat treatments according to treatment plan
  • Conduct individual and/or group Physical Therapy activities according to treatment plan; facilitates and instructs patients in the skills necessary to successfully participate
  • Interdisciplinary team discussions or hospital rounds involvement
  • Program development
  • Serving as a resource person in areas of expertise
  • Participation in student program and student rotations
  • Providing in-services in areas of expertise for the Bronson Rehabilitation System
  • Documenting in the electronic health record per compliance timelines
  • Communicating limitations that prevent timely documentation
  • Maintaining accurate, legible, and complete records for each person served
  • Serving on committees and task forces
  • Participating in process improvement
  • Demonstrating time management skills
  • Supervision of Rehab Clinical Assistant, PTA students, and volunteers
