About The Position

MorseLife PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join their team. The PTA will implement individualized patient therapy care plans developed by a Physical Therapist (PT) and work under the PT's supervision. This role involves performing routine exercises, teaching patients and families exercise programs, documenting patient progress, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team for discharge planning. The position reports to the Supervisor, Rehab Services.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed in the state of Florida.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance in the State of Florida.
  • 2 years' experience with a minimum of one year experience with the frail and elderly.
  • Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule.
  • Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Flexible schedule to meet the needs of participants.
  • Ability to physically access any home i.e. navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning, in any area Company serves.
  • Ability to manage stress.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting participants and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Graduate of an approved school giving a course of not less than two (2) Years for Physical Therapy Assistants.
  • Currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine strengthening exercises and therapeutic exercises as outlined by the lead PT.
  • Assist in teaching exercise programs to patient and family.
  • Consult with therapist regarding the outcome of home visits and report findings in written forms.
  • Submit written daily notes as required.
  • Observe and record activities and findings in the record.
  • Instruct other health team personnel and family members in certain aspects of physical therapy with which they work with the client.
  • Participate with staff, client and physician in discharge activities and assists in completing the discharge summary.
  • Communicate effectively with all those providing care.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
