About The Position
As a Physical Therapist – Rehab, your ability to design, plan, and implement personalized physical therapy intervention greatly enhances patient function and overall quality of life. This is a Per Diem position located in the Inpatient Acute Care department at Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY. The schedule involves day shifts, 8-hour shifts from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a weekend rotation requiring at least one weekend per month.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy or Bachelor’s degree with prior experience as a licensed Physical Therapist required.
- Current New York State license or a limited permit as a Registered Physical Therapist.
- If New York State license or limited permit is not held, must be hired within 90 days of graduation from a New York State or APTA-accredited physical therapist education program and meet Practice Exemption under New York State Physical Therapy License Requirements.
- If working in Homecare or traveling between locations, NYS license required.
- Developed leadership skills.
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills.
Nice To Haves
- Prior Physical Therapist experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Meet patient goals and needs by providing quality, evidence-based care; assess, develop, and implement an individualized treatment plan.
- Help the patient accomplish the treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises.
- Instruct, encourage, and assist patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities.
- Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs.
- Instruct patients, families and caregivers in home exercise programs.
- Recommend and provide assistive equipment.
- Recommend outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
- Develop physical therapy staff by providing information.
- Develop and conduct in-service training programs.
