About The Position

UW Medical Center-Montlake – Rehabilitation Therapies has an outstanding opportunity for a Physical Therapist 2 - Inpatient. This individual will be responsible for evaluation, planning, directing and administering physical therapy evaluation and intervention to patients with complex medical diagnosis and/or difficult social situations (multi system impairments and/or multiple co-morbidities) referred by a licensed provider.

Requirements

  • Current Washington State license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized school of physical therapy, or completion of a Physical Therapy program and one year relevant experience.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Administers treatments and physical agents as determined by the evaluation in an effort to restore function and prevent further disability following injury, disease or physical disability
  • Partners with, patients their families and/or caregivers to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities
  • Documents appropriately and accurately with regard to content and timeliness
  • Coordinates delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (PTA, Medical Assistant, PT Aide, etc.)
  • Instructs other team members in patient-specific therapy techniques related to physical therapy
  • Provides ongoing mentorship to new physical therapy employees and current employees who may be rotating into their area of practice for the first time, or haven’t been their in a long time
  • Provide advice to more novice clinicians about all aspects of physical therapy practice as needed
  • Promotes and environment of advanced clinical reasoning and teaching in all aspects of their practice
  • Participate in annual evidence base case study
  • Able to reflect on clinical practice and identify areas of needed personal professional development and pursues knowledge base to address this
  • Incorporates new learning into their daily practice as well as educate the staff on this newly gained information in a way that is applicable to our practice environment
  • Participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in Quality Improvement activities including outcome data
  • Identifies areas of system improvements, patient safety concerns, or needed program development and takes the initiative to address these concerns by correcting the problem if easily resolved or brings a plan of action to the supervisor or manager for consultation and budgetary approval
  • Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines
  • Makes suggestion for improvement of operations that positively effect the bottom line
  • Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis
  • Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs
  • Provides leadership to the department in regards to professionalism and creating an environment that is stimulating and fosters innovation and continued learning
