About The Position

The Physical Plant Technician I supports the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facility systems, equipment, and work areas. This is a hands-on position responsible for assisting with routine preventive maintenance, basic repairs, inspections, troubleshooting, and general facility support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, mechanical work, property maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or general building maintenance is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new maintenance skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently on routine assignments and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Valid driver's license may be required based on assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
  • Perform basic repairs involving doors, fixtures, plumbing, hardware, lighting, furniture, and other facility components.
  • Assist with troubleshooting minor mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and equipment issues.
  • Inspect facility areas and equipment for maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Replace light bulbs, filters, fixtures, hardware, and other basic facility components as needed.
  • Assist with minor painting, patching, caulking, and general building repairs.
  • Help maintain tools, equipment, maintenance areas, and supply inventory.
  • Assist with moving, assembling, installing, or relocating equipment and furniture.
  • Support preventive maintenance schedules and maintain appropriate maintenance records.
  • Report equipment failures, hazards, or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist senior maintenance personnel, vendors, and contractors as needed.
  • Follow all facility safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Perform outdoor facility maintenance and general property upkeep as assigned.
  • Perform other maintenance and facility-support duties as needed.
