Summary Statement This class is involved in supervising the activities of trade, mechanical and/or semi-skilled and unskilled workers, scheduling preventive maintenance routine duties, and work of a difficult and complex nature; determining work priorities and providing solutions for unique and complex assignments.

Requirements

  • Three years experience in operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, hand and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
  • Three years experience in performing work in a variety of trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
  • Six months experience in estimating cost, time and materials for projects.
  • Six months experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of interpreting safety and building codes, laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Responsibilities

  • Schedules on-going preventative or routine maintenance duties.
  • Assigns, supervises and participates in work involving all phases of painting, carpentry, plumbing, installation, repair and maintenance of systems and equipment, and other related duties.
  • Inspects job site, determines courses of action, directs staff and reviews assignments.
  • Schedules assignments, estimates cost, time and materials.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports.
  • May be required to diagram structural and/or mechanical modifications and heating work.
