About The Position

Summit Public Schools is seeking a part-time Physical Education Teacher for the SY26-27 school year at Summit Tam Middle School. This role is 0.2 FTE and focuses on preparing students for success in college and as contributing members of society. Summit's unique model emphasizes project-based learning, teacher mentorship through advisory groups, and continuous improvement for faculty. Teachers are provided with tools and support for professional development, coaching, and collaboration. The role requires a commitment to culturally responsive teaching and creating equitable learning pathways for all students in intentionally heterogeneous and diverse school communities.

Requirements

  • Commitment to uphold Summit’s values, and the belief that all children deserve a rigorous and equitable education that prepares them for college and for life.
  • Teaching Credential in California to teach PE.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Clear health and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead engaging units that promote physical fitness, health, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Help students build lifelong fitness habits and develop motor skills through a variety of activities.
  • Facilitate active participation, lead skill instruction, and provide students with real-time feedback.
