About The Position

Lander-Grinspoon Academy, a private school in Northampton, MA, is currently seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly motivated part-time Physical Education Teacher to work with students in grades K–6. This is a great opportunity for a current graduate student, someone interested in exploring teaching in a school setting, or a recently retired teacher who isn't quite ready to leave it all behind! The school sees physical education as an essential part of educating the whole child—supporting resilience, cooperation, self-awareness, and responsible citizenship. Teachers collaborate closely to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences and to help each child reach their full potential. Responsibilities

  • Teach physical education to students in grades K-6.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives including social justice education, the on-site working farm, and creative arts.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers.
  • Communicate openly with families to support each child’s development, confidence, and joyful sense of identity.
  • Foster physical skills, teamwork, and healthy habits.
  • Nurture students’ social and emotional well-being.
  • Teach PE outdoors when weather permitting and in our multi-purpose room the rest of the year.
  • Teach PE in a non-competitive environment.
