About The Position

This position is for a Physical Education and HOPE teacher for grades 9-12. The teacher will be responsible for instructing students in the specified content area within a classroom setting. The role also includes the responsibilities of a Head Football Coach. All district employees are expected to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance, support the district's vision and mission, engage in civility and professionalism, and maintain professional knowledge and skills. The teacher will design and implement instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum, create a positive educational climate, and utilize diverse teaching methodologies to meet individual student needs. Responsibilities include observing and evaluating student performance, managing classroom behavior, communicating with parents and staff, and ensuring the health and safety of students. The teacher must also maintain appropriate certifications and professional development hours.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate in the content area is required.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret all kinds of documents.

  • Ability to write speeches and effectively present to managers, the public, and school board.
  • Ability to work with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements appropriate instruction assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
  • Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
  • Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors student assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
  • Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement.
  • Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, and data.
  • Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
  • Supervise students in order to ensure safety in all student areas, including but not limited to locker rooms, outdoor fields, studio, etc.
