About The Position

The ECS PE Teacher will be responsible for daily sections of physical education classes for elementary and upper school students. The ideal candidate will know how to instruct children in matters of physical education, and also how to manage a class effectively.

Requirements

  • Have a BS or BA preferably in education
  • Demonstrate evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
  • Have a pastoral reference from local church to verify regular attendance and active involvement
  • Adhere to the mission statement, core values, Code of Conduct, and Statement of Faith of Emmanuel Christian School

Responsibilities

  • Teach physical education at the appropriate level for each class.
  • Participate in training in integrating a biblical worldview into all elements of instruction.
  • Be informed as to the academic, spiritual, and social development of each of their students.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills and follow the school’s plan for discipline.
  • Employ those instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative and effective teaching including the consistent and effective use of technology.
  • Ensure that adequate preparations have been made to accomplish objectives and meet the standards established for the classes assigned.
  • Plan instruction methodically and consistently using daily lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum and curriculum maps.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades to meet the requests of the administration and one's own need for a knowledge of student progress.
  • Create activities with purpose and intention to reinforce, review, and/or enrich learning content.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled faculty meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher meetings.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management that fosters a learning environment for all students and adheres to the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Follow the school’s protocol for classroom discipline.
  • Provide regular communication with the home via the telephone, email, and in-person meetings.
  • Attend all regularly scheduled meetings (typically once a week) which include staff meetings, division meetings, curriculum meetings and PLCs.
  • Attend and/or participate in school activities and programs.
  • Speak favorably of and publicly support the school, faculty, and school leadership.
