About The Position

Responsible for building knowledge assets in the area of Maternal, Child, Adolescent Health, and Nutrition (MCAHN). This role will work with Country Offices to design, develop and deliver solutions to improve health delivery systems and implement culturally appropriate solutions to improve maternal, child and adolescent health outcomes. The unit will ensure that mothers, children, and adolescents have quality access to healthcare, food, and nutrition through our programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health or related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience working on USAID-funded MCAHN, FP, and RH programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with progressively increasing responsibility for designing, managing, and implementing complex health activities, with a focus on MCAHN programming, involving multiple stakeholders and implementing partners. Direct experience with quality of care and respectful maternity care is a plus.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience working with governments, professional associations, health care professionals, and communities to prioritize and address MCAHN issues.
  • Considerable experience with and capacity to collaborate with partners at multiple levels, including Ministry officials, NGOs, professional associations, civil society, private sector, and other partners working in the health arena.
  • Experience training and supporting leadership directly with improving programs related to MCAHN, FP, and RH.
  • Prior experience in a complex, matrixed organization, with the ability to scale processes in a global, professional, service organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time per year in developing areas and fragile contexts.
  • Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a Christian commitment to serving the poor and in full agreement with FH’s Christian beliefs.
  • Coaching and Mentorship skills - proven capacity to effectively manage and mentor staff with varying levels of experience.

  • Proficiency in Google platforms, Microsoft Office products, and virtual technologies such as Skype and/or Zoom.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scope, standard, and strategy for programming in maternal, child and adolescent programming, in accordance with the global technical standards in MCAHN.
  • Lead the design and content development of technical materials, briefs, papers, and other knowledge management and visibility products related to MCAHN.
  • Support the design and planning of maternal, child and adolescent health technical programs and projects.
  • Ensure that the project implementation teams in countries have a clear understanding of the project’s technical design, including its focus on strengthening health systems and improving access to and utilization of integrated, quality, respectful and responsive client centered MCAHN services at both the health facility and community levels.
  • Mentor and coach specialists in country programs to work with health care providers, local authorities, and community members to identify clinical and community health system issues that impede access to quality care and uptake of services.
  • Identify and implement appropriate facility and community-based strategies to address access barriers and service delivery gaps.
  • Backstop and provide technical support to the technical managers of the program to ensure planned activities are being implemented with the highest quality and on time.
  • Provide mentoring and capacity building at the individual, organizational, and programmatic levels in MCAHN.
  • Support design and development of any grant funding opportunities.
  • Explore opportunities for partnerships and support pre-positioning for any revenue growth opportunities.
  • Support country offices in designing and developing proposals to generate funding at the local levels.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key thought leaders, and relevant local public and private stakeholders.
  • Promote FH’s influence in the measurement of progress and impact in relation to MCAHN programming by representing FH externally in universities, and to decision makers, policy forums, and working groups.
  • Contribute to research, innovation, and learning agendas with a focus on MCAHN outcomes.
  • Support development and implementation of monitoring frameworks and learning metrics for MCAHN.
  • Document promising practices, lessons learned, innovative and scalable programming models across Country Offices.
  • Develop knowledge products, tools, and learning briefs in MCAHN.
