About The Position

The physician will participate in the provision of high quality medical and health care, interacting with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care and service. Provide healthcare and treatment of patients within the scope of practice in Hematology and Oncology as defined by one's training and/or Board Certification. Model behaviors consistent with group practice and Fairview values.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine Medical Doctorate degree (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) or foreign equivalent from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Hematology/Oncology fellowship-training program
  • Board eligible/certified in Hematology and/or Oncology with the America Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association
  • Strong technical competence, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure
  • Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive patient care involving subjective and objective evaluation including a history and physical exam, review of medical records, assessment, and formulation of a plan of care.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribes or administers treatment as determined by the plan of care. Reevaluate patients during treatments and manage complications if any and further treatment plan.
  • Consults with and make appropriate referral(s) to other health care providers in abnormal or unusual cases. Refers within the Fairview network.
  • Maintains the electronic medical record in accordance with Fairview standards and in accordance with licensure and scope.
  • Recognizes and appropriately responds to medical emergencies
  • Serves as a patient advocate by maintaining patient confidentiality, protecting patient rights, communicating in a timely manner and resolving concerns or complaints regarding care and service.
  • Assists in the development of new policies, programs, procedures, or techniques.
  • Participates in research, educational or other special projects or programs as needed.
  • Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management
  • Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes or workflows
