About The Position

This is a temporary position limited to 900 hours. The Extra Help Photographer will execute specialized photographic work in color and black-and-white that requires a basic level of photographic skill and knowledge of various photography techniques. They also directly supervise and organize photographic work for assistant photographic personnel. They work under general supervision from the Lead and Senior Photographers, as well as the Creative Lead.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Any combination totaling four (4) years (48 months) from the following categories: college course work in photography, digital manipulation and processing or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) work experience in professional photographic work.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in LightRoom preferred.

Responsibilities

Take digital photographs of a wide variety of subjects (landscape, architectural, Student Affairs and UIC events, time-lapse, panoramic and illustrative subjects, as well as staff and student portraits).
Provides post-production and edits photography into its final form to ensure quality control, and uploads to secure photo servers.
Establishes and/or devises procedures needed to produce quality photographic work and post-production workflows.
Interacts with customers via telephone, e-mail, and meetings to assist in determination of project needs and deliverables.
Maintains digital photo inventory and archive (Photoshelter).
Maintains inventory of photographic apparatus and supplies.
May supervise student staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
