About The Position

The Record and northjersey.com, a leading New Jersey news organization, is seeking a video-oriented reporter to produce 3-5 video stories per week, ranging from short-form social media content to longer-form video narratives. This role will focus on the subject of affordability in New Jersey, helping readers understand and navigate the rising cost of living. The ideal candidate is ambitious, fast-paced, digitally-minded, and eager to produce distinctive video content. The position involves idea generation, shooting footage, and editing, with experience in Adobe Premiere Pro being a plus. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and skilled in audience growth through content, social media, and cross-platform promotion (TV, podcasts, radio). This is a 12-month grant-funded position with potential for extension, requiring afternoon and evening hours.

Requirements

• Demonstrated skill with shooting and editing video.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• One-year professional journalism experience, although recent grads will be considered.
• High-level communication and time management skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to work on-site in Bergen County, New Jersey.
• Demonstrated ability to work well on deadline and use multimedia to supplement their reach.
• Demonstrated track record for keen news judgment, ethical decision-making and fair play.
• This role requires a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro is a plus.
