About The Position

The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) is responsible for positioning UNDP as the world’s leading global development network, promoting its global authority and thought leadership on sustainable development and the interconnected issues of poverty, inequality, and climate change. BERA leads and supports UNDP in building and nurturing strategic relationships and alliances essential to achieving its mission. Creating strong political and financial backing for UNDP by providing partners and supporters with a clear understanding of what UNDP does and how our mission, capabilities and flagship services relate to them. The Bureau leads UNDP’s work on innovative and diversified partnerships and ways of financing the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. It is also responsible for global campaigns on critical development issues, which aim to inform government policies and build partnerships around high-impact solutions. BERA coordinates and sets corporate standards across the functions of partnerships, marketing and communications within UNDP and leads on external communications. The Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy is positioned around three service lines; Public Partnership; Advocacy, Marketing and Communications; and Private and Finance Partners, all working in close collaboration and coordination under the guidance of the Directorate and with the support of the Management Support Unit and Strategic Analysis and Engagement team. BERA has a robust network of Representation Offices (Brussels, Copenhagen, Geneva, Tokyo and Washington D.C.) and Regional Teams in five hubs (Africa, Arab States, Asia Pacific, Europe and CIS, and Latin American and the Caribbean) co-led with Regional Bureaux, all of which play a critical role in audience centric communications and management and strengthening of relationships with Public and Private Partners to help build a strong brand for UNDP within the local ecosystem. The Photo-Video Analyst is part of the Digital Communications Studio and will be supervised by the Digital Production Lead. He/she will build UNDP’s capacity for visual communications through professional and creative use of photography and videography.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Film, Social Media Marketing, Photography, Video Production, Broadcast Journalism, Communications or another related field is required. Or
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above, in combination with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years (with Master’s degree), and four (4) years (with Bachelor´s Degree) of relevant work experience in video/photo production, digital marketing, social media, including filming, scripting, storytelling, editing, and dissemination;
  • At least 2 years of proficiency and experience) in graphic design, video editing and relevant software, such as: Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience of social media friendly video production from conceptualization to publication on digital channels.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of French and Spanish is desired.
  • A professional certification in training, learning management or facilitation is an asset but not a requirement.

  • Proven ability to conceptualize and create photography and video products which follow editorial direction;
  • Demonstrated ability to produce, optimize and edit photographs and videos at professional level;

  • Experience in supporting content in a high-quality digital asset management (DAM) system;

Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality video content for UNDP’s communications products;
  • Edit video interviews with donors, partners, and celebrities including UN Goodwill Ambassadors for UNDP’s donor visibility and impact efforts;
  • Edit video content for UNDP crisis response work.
  • Produce broadcast edits with scripts for broadcast media and newswire services;
  • Produce high-quality visual content (videos, slideshows, infographics etc) to showcase UNDP’s programmatic work for flagship campaigns and events;
  • Produce content for UNDP’s corporate partnership with Samsung including photo, video, and multimedia stories; social media content for the ‘Samsung Global Goals’ app to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Generation17, including participation during high-level events and engagements. Includes supporting creative direction, photography, filming, editing, and publishing.
  • Edit multimedia content at high‐level events and of UNDP executive leadership and for corporate marketing purposes;
  • Support the Photo-Video Editor Specialist to build UNDP’s capacity by providing quality control assurance of assets in UNDP’s digital asset management system (DAM) and promoting production which meet journalistic and professional standards;
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder mapping and analysis to identify stakeholder needs and how best to leverage their participation and/or strengthen their engagement.
  • Identify, synthesize and document best practices and lessons learned that are generated from the project and implementing partners.
  • The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
