This role is for a Phone Triage RN in the Pediatric Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). Responsibilities

  • Managing heavy volume of patient calls and electronic medical record communications between providers and families, including high acuity sick calls and triage to appropriate member of the health care team in a timely manner.
  • Support families by writing letters, filling out school forms and FMLA paperwork.
  • Manage heavy volume of order requests for supplies, medications and DME equipment.
  • Provide education to families on proper use of medications, use of home equipment and treatment plans.
  • Process Prior Authorizations for denied medications.
  • Work with DME companies meet insurance requirements for home equipment by providing medical records as requested.
  • Support teammates and co-workers.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeaner with our patients, families and all co-workers.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
