About The Position

The Phlebotomy Technician will be responsible for accurately registering outpatients, obtaining blood samples, and performing EKGs. This role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and level of difficulty of the patient (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics). The technician performs routine and assigned functions under the direction of the Phlebotomy Supervisor and/or designee, demonstrating proficiency and understanding of specimen procurement as appropriate to the ages of the patient’s growth and developmental through the life cycle factors. The role also involves maintaining communication with other departments, keeping the work area tidy, and assisting the Supervisor in training. In the absence of the supervisor or as a weekend Lead Phlebotomist, the technician will assume a leadership role and utilize problem-solving methods.

Requirements

  • Medical Terminology
  • ICD 10 coding and CRT data experience strongly preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge of third party payer, federal and state regulations desired
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic team player
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred
