About The Position
The University of Iowa Health Care, Iowa River Landing clinic is seeking a patient-centered individual for our 100% Phlebotomy Technician I position in the Pathology department. Under direct supervision, this role performs phlebotomy and a variety of difficult venipuncture procedures. The technician will also complete laboratory tasks related to routine phlebotomy labeling procedures, telephone inquiries, and distribution of phlebotomy supplies.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or previous phlebotomy experience is desirable.
- Minimum 6 months previous experience working in a healthcare setting is desirable.
- Basic computer skills are desirable.
- Previous experience with Personal Protective Equipment is desirable.
- Previous patient contact experience is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy draws
- Perform computer data entry and other clerical task as required
- Order, receive and distribute supplies
- Responds to basic phlebotomy inquiries and otherwise represent assigned and related work areas.
