The Phlebotomy Supervisor will be responsible for performing computer data entry, filing, telephone communication, and other clerical duties. This role requires adequate knowledge of laboratory test terminology and demonstrates proper phlebotomy technique and equipment use for collecting specimens from newborns to geriatric patients. The supervisor will process various types of specimens, including microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank specimens, as well as specimens for referral to reference laboratories. Additionally, the role involves stocking and ordering routine supplies, maintaining the cleanliness of storage areas and equipment, and processing or loading specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation. Key supervisory responsibilities include performing annual staff performance evaluations, providing staff training and orientation, evaluating and ensuring staff competency, and ensuring staff compliance with all regulatory and laboratory/hospital policies. The supervisor will also ensure a safe work environment by evaluating and implementing PPE and other safety phlebotomy devices, and actively participate in the collection and evaluation of QA data for Performance Improvement initiatives. Other tasks may include assisting with sample pick-up, sorting, and storage, assisting pathology, inventory management, supply replenishment, ordering supplies, mail handling, faxing, answering phones, and managing product deliveries. The supervisor may also perform CLIA waived testing after completing training and competency. This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule.
