About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Phlebotomy Supervisor to join their team in Santa Monica, CA. This role involves supervising a team of phlebotomists working in various client locations, including Patient Service Centers and physician's offices. The supervisor will manage patient flow, inventory, productivity, and schedules, while also handling operational duties like payroll and performance appraisals. They will partner with HR on employee relations, hire and train new phlebotomists, and ensure effective communication with internal and external customers. The role also includes providing exceptional customer service, assisting with new site setups, resolving issues, and performing specimen collection when needed. Travel to additional sites may be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid California State issued Phlebotomy License
  • 1 or more years of experience as a phlebotomist
  • 1 or more years of experience in customer service
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Able to work in a fast paced / high volume work environment
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable transportation and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree
  • 3 or more years’ phlebotomy experience working in clinical / hospital environment
  • 2 or more years' assisting all patient groups (pediatric - geriatric)
  • 3 or more years' phlebotomy managerial or supervisory or team leader experience
  • 1 or more years of experience in client facing role or sales

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of approximately 34 or more phlebotomists working in client locations.
  • Manage patient flow, wait times, inventory levels and information logs
  • Monitor monthly productivity and report any deviations as necessary
  • Coordinate phlebotomists' schedules through resourceful and creative thinking
  • Perform operational duties such as payroll, monthly schedules, and performance appraisals
  • Partner with Human Resources regarding employee relations issues and disciplinary actions
  • Hire and train phlebotomists to fill any open positions
  • Communicate effectively to internal and external customers including patients, client office staff, sales team, logistics and senior management
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients and clients
  • Assist in the set-up of new Patient Service Centers or Client Offices
  • Provide resolution of any patient or client issues
  • Perform, collect and prepare specimens when needed
  • Travel to additional sites as necessary
