About The Position

Under the direction of the Marcus Principal Investigators and Project Directors, perform daily phlebotomy activities of the laboratory accurately and on time. Maintain a safe and professional environment. Performs with confidence, clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. Maintains required records and documentation. Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to participants, health care providers, and the public in general.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Phlebotomy -3 years inclusive of geriatric venipuncture, capillary collections preferred.
Keyboard/data entry application.
Customer service in a service environment.

Nice To Haves

Medical terminology helpful.
Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet participants appropriately.
Treat all participants in a courteous manner.
Ensures all field specimens are collected accurately and on time.
Collects specimens according to established procedures.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by testing procedures.
Maintains required records and paperwork.
Reads, understands and complies with departmental policies, protocols and procedures: (i.e. Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, etc).
Maintains all appropriate phlebotomy and sample logs.
Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code and lab coat policies, appearing neat and clean at all times.
Reports on time to work, following attendance guidelines.
Communicates appropriately with participants, coworkers and the health care providers.
Communicates all unresolved problems immediately to the appropriate Manager, Supervisor, for resolution.
Remains polite and courteous at all times.
Keeps work area neat and clean.
Disposes of biohazard containers when scheduled.
Help with inventories and other tasks as assigned.
