About The Position

Performs a variety of phlebotomy procedures and/or patient point-of-care testing in support of clinical activities in the Healthcare System. This is a per-diem, onsite role with an every-other-weekend schedule from 3:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The role is part of UNC Medical Center’s Phlebotomy Services.

Requirements

One year of phlebotomy experience, or graduation from a phlebotomy program with no previous experience required.
No education credential is required if all other position qualifications are met.
No licensure or certification is required.

Responsibilities

Consults and confers with healthcare providers and patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
Ensures the quality and accuracy of work.
Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens, and/or workflow.
May participate on teams or perform special projects and assignments.
May teach and train new employees, phlebotomy students, and/or other healthcare providers.
May review test results to ensure accurate reporting and timely correction of errors, or report results to healthcare providers.
Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control, and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
Ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks, and monitors daily operation of the laboratory work area.
