This role involves working directly with medical providers to coordinate patient testing needs within a fast-paced, medical environment, navigating hospital settings to attend to client needs, and collecting specimens for various tests. The position requires preparing specimens for testing, managing patient flow, and handling administrative and clerical duties. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy certification or completed training program
  • 2 or more years of experience as a phlebotomist performing venipunctures
  • 1 year or more of leadership experience either formal or informal
  • AAMA or CMA accreditation

Nice To Haves

  • Current or Previous LabCorp experience
  • 3 years or more experience as a phlebotomist
  • Experience with pediatric and neonatal draws
  • Be familiar with ICD-9 coding
  • In depth knowledge of phlebotomy duties, responsibilities and techniques
  • Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • High level customer service experience dealing with executive level personnel

Responsibilities

  • May work directly with medical providers to coordinate patient testing needs within a fast-paced, medical environment.
  • Able to navigate around a hospital setting to attend client needs to various suites.
  • Ability to decipher, collect, and process complex test orders pertinent to hospital outreach settings.
  • Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
  • Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.
  • Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
  • Address any customer service-related issues in a prompt and respectful manner
  • Manage and monitor patient flow, wait times, inventory levels and information logs.
  • Promote teamwork, cohesiveness and effective communication among coworkers.
  • Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Work with patients and providers to obtain pertinent demographic and billing information.
  • Process and collect payments when required.
  • Observe and report any performance, compliance or staffing related issues to supervisors.
  • Administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
  • Travel to additional sites when needed
  • Able to be flexible with scheduled hours to provide shift coverage as needed
