Performs phlebotomy functions and non–technical duties. This role involves performing venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick procedures, identifying patients, labeling specimens, determining the priority of STAT draws, utilizing computers for assigned functions, organizing work, assisting co-workers, and potentially training new employees. The phlebotomist is also responsible for maintaining a clean work environment, recording refrigerator temperatures, and adhering to safety protocols.
