About The Position

Franciscan Health Indianapolis is seeking a Phlebotomist for a full-time, 1.0 FTE position working 40 hours per week on the PM shift (11:00 AM - 7:30 PM). This role involves weekend and/or holiday rotation and rotating shifts. As one of the largest integrated laboratory networks serving hospitals in the Midwest, Alverno includes 32 hospitals and multiple physician offices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• May be required to travel/drive to other locations

Nice To Haves

• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred

Responsibilities

• Collection of blood specimens
• Performing laboratory office duties, including registering patients, accurately and completely entering all necessary data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork
• Processing laboratory specimens, including preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the central laboratory or to a reference laboratory
• Handling blood, body fluid and urine specimens according to established procedures
• Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director
• Acting as a driver and participating in the on-call rotation, as required in some facilities
