About The Position

Franciscan Health Indianapolis is seeking a Phlebotomist to join their team. This role involves collecting blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, and processing laboratory specimens. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

Nice To Haves

• Background in a medical laboratory
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Collection of blood specimens
• Performing laboratory office duties, including registering patients, accurately and completely entering all necessary data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork
• Processing laboratory specimens, including preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the central laboratory or to a reference laboratory
• Handling blood, body fluid and urine specimens according to established procedures
• Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director
• Acting as a driver and participating in the on-call rotation, as required in some facilities
• Traveling/driving to other locations, as may be required
