About The Position
Saint Mary's Hospital, Waterbury CT is seeking a Phlebotomist for their Physician Blood Draw Department. This role is ideal for an independent Phlebotomist who will be primarily responsible for obtaining blood specimens, processing laboratory specimens for clinical analysis, and providing patient information to the appropriate care giver. The position also ensures accurate and complete patient registration and requires flexibility to cover Physician Blood Draw locations as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of phlebotomy program
- Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a blood draw station, ambulatory care or acute care setting.
- Knowledge in the use of information system
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with patients, staff and outside providers
- Ability to take initiative and work alone
Nice To Haves
- Nat'l Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Properly identifies patient per policy and performs venipuncture using standard/butterfly methods
- Labels all specimens following laboratory policy
- Receives/cancels/orders and processes laboratory/microbiology specimens
- Flexible to cover other sites when necessary
