Responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role involves performing all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, monitoring, and disconnect, in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines. The Phlebotomist evaluates vein performance, makes necessary corrections to ensure product quality and donor safety, and strives to make the donation process a positive experience. Additionally, this role may involve educating new donors about therapeutic products, the screening process, health tests, and center policies. The Phlebotomist must maintain alertness to donor reactions, assist with reactions or notify appropriate staff, and accurately record incidents and donor data using a PDA and the electronic donor information management system. Responsibilities also include performing calibrations, verifying maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. The position requires adherence to all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures, promoting safety in all actions, and maintaining confidentiality of all information. Bilingual skills may be required to meet business needs, and other job-related duties may be assigned.
