About The Position

Outreach Phlebotomy Services - Alverno PSC Hammond Clinic Specialty Center is seeking a Phlebotomist for day shifts with weekend and/or holiday rotation. This role involves collecting blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties such as patient registration and data entry, and processing laboratory specimens. The individual will prepare specimens for testing and/or transport, handle various body fluid and urine specimens, and may perform authorized waived and non-waived POC tests. In some facilities, this role may also include acting as a driver and participating in an on-call rotation. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• May be required to travel/drive to other locations

Nice To Haves

• Background in a medical laboratory
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Collection of blood specimens
• Performing laboratory office duties including registering patients, entering data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork
• Processing laboratory specimens, including preparation for testing and/or transport to central or reference laboratories
• Handling blood, body fluid, and urine specimens according to established procedures
• Performing limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director
• Acting as a driver and participating in the on-call rotation, as required in some facilities
